Section 1 Defining the field Question 2

I really liked the dick and carey instructional design model.  I did not see what could be taken out of the model but did find a way to help enhance the model for student learning.  I would add a box next to develop instructional strategy for relevant real world learning to help show students why they are learning a new lesson.  I would also give the student more options to learn to create their own learning style.  In the develop and select instructional materials box, I would have expand choice to include more choice for the students.  My box would say have students select from a list of options to show instructor that objectives for lesson were learned.

1 Instructional design is learner centered

By identify goals for each student individually and revising instruction to better suit students needs the Dick Carey model helps to keep the focus on students.  I think the recommendations I mad would help it to become more learned centered than teacher centered.

2. Instructional design is goal oriented

The first step in the model is assessing goals which is very important to complete first so that you can know what you are try to teach and know if you are being successful in student learning.

3.  Instructional design focuses on meaningful performance

With students and instructors having to measure goals and performance, student are more likely to see the reason they are learning the lesson rather than for just a grade.  Student see that they learning concepts for the future and how it can be used outside the classroom

4.  Instructional design assumes outcomes can be measured in a reliable and valid way

With the teacher having student to create project the teacher can grade the material knowing that the student learned the material and would not have to worry about the valitiy of the test.

5.  Instructional design is empirical, iterative, and self-correcting

Student can see what they did wrong as the teacher can correct problems that may be wrong with project without much resistance from students .

6.  Instructional design typically is a team effort

Student are getting real world experience by work as a team or in groups to come up to complex problems and gaining real world experience.
